Pet Liability

Our four-legged friends are often considered one of the family and are treated as such. Much like any family member though, they also require certain levels of protection to ensure safety. Dog bites are on a decline, however claims involving dog attack injuries can range from $25,000 to $35,000. Insurance policies can vary when it comes to dogs, making it important to know what and how much it covers when it comes to pets. Be sure to talk with your insurer about their policies ( one bite, policy caps, dog breed, etc. ).  Be sure to talk to your provider about your dog and what stipulations your policy has involving them.

A few helpful tips to follow that can reduce chances of an incident:

  • Make sure your dog is secure if kept outdoors and unsupervised.
  • Enroll your dog in obedience courses or train them on encountering new people.
  • Know your dogs behavior, if you see it being riled up or know a certain activity it doesn’t like, let anyone visiting know.
  • Keep medical records of your dog in case an incident should occur your can show they are vaccinated.
